The focus is on Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat, the popular mobile RPG that has taken the gaming world by storm. Developed by Chinese company NebulaJoy and controlled by Japanese development team DMC, the game is a spin-off of the Devil May Cry series. It successfully combines elements from several games in the series such as DMC3, DMC4, DMC: Devil May Cry and DMC5. After several beta tests, it was finally released in mainland China on June 11, 2021, bringing hack-and-slash combat to mobile gamers around the world. The gameplay of this RPG matches the high octane, intense combat style of its gameplay. Analogues of PC/consoles, with some simplifications to adapt to the mobile platform.

Players progress through extensive levels, slaying demons and earning Style Rank points based on their combat prowess. Variety of attacks can increase the style’s score, but repetitive movements can cause it to stagnate. An exciting twist to gameplay: the ability to dodge and taunt while increasing your style rating. Some features in the game are simplified or missing compared to the PC/Console versions due to limitations of the mobile platform. For example, characters can only carry up to four weapons, there is no automatic mode, but aim assist is supported. Dante’s Sword Master and Marksman styles are included in his standard move sets via dedicated buttons.

Each character can equip up to four weapons with unique characteristics and skills. The weapon deals direct physical and secondary elemental damage, the main categories of which include physical, fire, ice, thunder and shadow damage. Additionally, upgrading weapons increases damage output and unlocks various skills – weapon enhancement methods range from injection, forging and refining to using magic cards. Branded weapon skins can be earned and applied to any weapon of the same category. “Dante’s Rebellion” can be unlocked after completing the second chapter of the main story, and his “Ebony and Ivory” can be unlocked after completing the 60th floor of the Bloody Palace.
